High-Risk Offender Released Back into Guelph, Found Sleeping on University Campus

The University of Guelph has issued a safety bulletin following the sighting of a high-risk offender on campus. Medhani Yohans, a 35-year-old man with a troubling criminal history in Guelph, was recently spotted sleeping on university grounds.

Yohans was released from custody in Toronto in August, under the condition that he check in with Guelph police within one week of his release. However, he failed to meet this requirement, leading to his subsequent arrest in the city. On March 1, Yohans was released again into the public.

Just days later, he was seen on the University of Guelph campus by a Campus Safety Officer (CSO), who immediately took action and removed him from the premises.

Yohans is considered a high-risk individual, particularly to women. His criminal record includes multiple charges of sexual violence, including assaults on two strangers. The university is urging anyone who sees Yohans on campus to contact a CSO immediately.

He is described as having a thin build, standing about 5-foot-9, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities are taking precautions to ensure the safety of the community.
