The latest incident took place at Conestoga Mall in Waterloo on Wednesday around 4:20 p.m.
Police stated that the investigation is still in its early stages. Reports indicate that the robbers were armed with a hammer and bear spray. No injuries have been reported, and one person has been arrested.
Shoppers and the public were advised to expect a significant police presence in the area during the investigation. Following the robbery, Conestoga Mall closed for the rest of the day but was scheduled to reopen on Thursday for regular holiday hours.
This robbery comes just two days after another jewellery store at Cambridge Centre mall was targeted. That incident occurred on Monday night at approximately 8:15 p.m. and involved three masked suspects armed with hammers. No one was injured, and the suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.
Police have released photos of three individuals they hope to identify in connection with the Cambridge robbery.
Both incidents occurred during the peak of the holiday shopping season. Authorities noted that there have been nine jewellery store robberies at malls in the Waterloo Region this year.
