WR Grassroots Response Opens Guest House in Centre Wellington to Support Displaced Ukrainians

Waterloo Region’s Grassroots Response is expanding its efforts to assist displaced Ukrainians with the opening of a new guest house in Centre Wellington. The initiative aims to provide safe and stable accommodations for Ukrainian families fleeing the ongoing conflict in their home country.

The newly established guest house offers temporary housing for up to 10 individuals, with facilities designed to help newcomers adjust to life in Canada. In addition to shelter, residents will have access to support services such as job search assistance, language training, and community integration programs.

“This guest house is more than just a place to stay—it’s a stepping stone for families trying to rebuild their lives,” said a spokesperson for WR Grassroots Response. “Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where they can feel supported and hopeful about the future.”

The project has been made possible through community donations and partnerships with local organizations. Volunteers from Centre Wellington and the surrounding areas have also stepped up to provide meals, mentorship, and other essential services.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, WR Grassroots Response has been a key player in coordinating aid for displaced families, addressing housing shortages and offering financial assistance. With thousands of Ukrainians seeking refuge in Ontario, the organization says the need for initiatives like this is greater than ever.

Local officials and community members have praised the effort, emphasizing the importance of extending a helping hand to those in need. “This guest house represents the compassion and resilience of our community,” said Centre Wellington Mayor Shawn Watters.
