The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) is relocating its upcoming meeting, originally set for Monday, April 28, due to both election-related logistics and anticipated protests.
The meeting is expected to draw significant public attention as the board prepares to discuss a contentious motion that could result in banning the display of Pride flags at Catholic schools across the region. Previous discussions on the topic have already sparked protests and counter-protests.
Adding to the complexity, April 28 is also election night. The board’s regular meeting location—the Catholic Education Centre—is next to a polling station, raising concerns about crowding and access for voters.
In a public notice, the WCDSB stated that the move was made “in the spirit of being good neighbours and to help ensure unimpeded access for voters.”
The meeting will now take place at Resurrection Catholic Secondary School.
